A Poem at The Precipice

We stand before it,
Vastness unbound
In a realm where we
Sometimes
Feel bound to the ground

Darkness, looking out
Over the edge,
As the rubble underneath foot
Meets earth, and we realize
There is no dearth

We fledge
And make a pledge
As we move closer to the ledge
Heart beating faster,
As we face
What some may see as disaster

Yet, we know
It is in each step
Taken
Where we move closer
To that
Which is faster,

A quickening

For it is at that ledge
Of the unknown
Where the beauty of life
Is foretold

Faith and trust
In a process far
Larger
Than is known
